Summary:
Six major wildfires in Southern California within a week (since October
24)
Burned: 700,000 acres. Destroyed: 3,346 homes. Killed: 20 people, including
1 firefighter.
On Friday, October 31st, the season's first storm brought cooler temperatures,
rain, and even snow in the mountain areas. It helped significantly to
contain and extinguish the blazes.

Impacted by the Western flank of the Grand Prix fire (see San
Bernardino County) reaching into areas north of the City of
Claremont.
Impacted by the Eastern flanks of the Simi/Val Verde and Piru
fires.
