Prof. Deborah Withington


BIOGRAPHY:


Deborah Withington is a Professor of Auditory Neuroscience at Leeds University. Her specialist research area is the use of directional sound and the applications for its use in the real world. Deborah is also Research Director of Sound Alert Technology. A University of Leeds spin-out Company which floated on OFEX in March 2000. The Company won the Prince of Wales Award for Innovation in 1997 for the use of directional sound in many applications and the ability of this technology to save lives.
Deborah has spoken at many International Conferences, including the NFPA this year, on the use of directional sound as an evacuation aid in applications such as buildings and marine environments, as well as aircraft.

To provide a forum for the sharing of knowledge and information,
to meet the challenge of the increasing risk of calamities
in the growing aviation industry.
