Emergency Management: Learning from History
Using
historic and most recent catastrophes, the workshop will cover
all aspects of comprehensive emergency management (from hazard
and impact analysis, to warning systems and public education,
to response coordination and advanced ICS, to crisis communication
and media handling, to business continuity and recovery planning).
The new NFPA standards on organization and deployment of fire
services will be discussed.
Challenges, achievements, and failures of (non)-mitigation,
planning, and response in real situations will be illustrated.
The threat of disruptive and Bioterrorism and the long-term
effects on communities and businesses will be discussed.
Attendees will participate in role-playing parts and work
on different tabletop exercise scenarios.
