Fires in China



1977 February 18th. -- China, Xinjiang: fire in a cinema theatre; 694 people died.

1993 November - China, Shenzhen city, across the border from Hong Kong: fire in a toy factory; at least 87 workers died and 57 others were injured.

1994 November 27th. -- China, Liaoning province, city of Fuxin: fire in a nightclub; 234 people died.

1994 December 8th. -- China, Xinjiang region, city of Karamay: fire in a cinema theatre; 324 people, 288 of them school children died.

1995 March 14th. -- China, Province of Liaoning, city of Anshan: fire in a hotel at the top of a commercial building; at least 30 people died.

1995 April 24th. -- China, Xinjiang region, Urumqi: fire at an illegal all-night karaoke and video centre; 51 people died.

1996 November 27th. -- China, Shanghai, downtown: two retarded men set fire to a residential building; 36 people died.

1997 February 13th. -- China, Guangdong province: a bus traveling on an expressway caught fire; as many as 39 passengers died.

1997 September 21st. - China, Fujian province, city of Jinjiang: a disgruntled employee set fire at his shoe factory; 32 people died.

1999 December 26th. -- China, Jilin province, city of Changchun: hotel fire; 20 people died.

2000 March 29th. -- China, Henan province, city of Jiaozuo: fire in an adult cinema theatre; at least 74 people died.

2000 April 22nd. -- China, Shandong province, city of Qingzhou: fire at a chicken processing plant; at least 38 workers died.

2000 June 30th. -- China, Guangdong province: fire in a fireworks factory; at least 36 people died.
