1999 September 7th Athens, Greece: Magnitude 5.9, centered 12 miles north of Athens, at least 27 people died, nearly 100 were injured, more than 100 buildings collapsed 1999,December 21st. Indonesia, Island of Java: magnitude 6.4 damaged hundreds of houses in several villages in West Java province were damaged. At least 4 people were killed and about 200 injured. Karyasari village, 120 kilometers (75 miles) southwest of the capitol city Jakarta, was one of the worst-hit communities. According to Indonesia's Geophysics Agency the the epicenter was beneath the Indian Ocean, about 230 kilometers (145 miles) southwest of Jakarta. It was felt in the capitol-city, but no damages were reported from there. 2000 January

leaving 93,000 poeople homeless; 7 people died and 2,500 were injured 2001 January 13th. Central America, El Salvador, San Vincente: 7.6 magnitude earthquake; more than 800 people died and approximately 2,000 were injured; more than 45,000 buildings are damaged or destroyed; over 600 houses are buried by massive landslides, triggered by the quake, the worst one in Santa Tecla, close to the capitol city San Salvador. 2001 January 26th.
