Reports
The first version
of an incident-related report will usually be published
within 48 hours of an event. Reports are not available
to the general public until at least six months after
the final version is released.
- Content
The document is characterized by information or other
content reflective of inquiry or investigation, tailored
to the context of a given situation, and the emergency
management, safety, and emergency service community.
Our reports often address questions posed by individuals
in government, business, education, and science.
- Purpose
The purpose of our reports is to provide comprehensive,
thorough, and unbiased information. However, this may
also include persuasive elements, such as recommendations,
suggestions, or other motivating conclusions that indicate
possible future actions the report reader might take.
- Format
EDM Reports are usually 50 pages or more in length and
include charts, tables, figures, pictures, tables of
contents, abstracts, summaries, appendices, footnotes,
hyperlinks, and references. Reports are in .pdf format.

Briefings
The first version
of an incident-related report will usually be published
with 48 hours of an event.
- Content
The document provides thorough information about an
actual incident, an emergency management topic, trend,
or news.
- Purpose
The briefing advises and enables the reader to better
understand issues and situations and to make appropriate
decisions.
- Format
EDM briefings are usually five to twenty pages in length
and may include charts, tables, figures, pictures, tables
of contents, abstracts, summaries, appendices, footnotes,
hyperlinks, and references. Briefings are in .pdf format.
